All the waiting for it made this about 1000x better. Not to mention the song is brilliant, classic Goats.

Quote
Eugene Sue
When the sky opens wide
And the late winter rain goes wild
I don't like it and I curse God to His face

And I say to myself
And to anyone else who will listen
Save yourselves, or hang yourselves
But I am leaving this wretched place

Chorus:
Oh when you call
Down curses
On the God that made you
You play hide and seek with trouble
Trouble's gonna find you too

When the ship finds land
And they throw me onto the sand
There's a guy with a rifle waiting there
And I say, to nobody listening: "This is fine by me"
And ideas fly through my mind

The sweat cakes through my hair

Chorus

The italicized parts are the ones I'm very unsure of, if anyone has corrections please pass em on!
Thanks Brautigan!

December 21, 2011 05:31AM | Re: Eugene Sue
massive thanks!

I wonder if you (or someone with more discerning ears than mine) could make out his JD's spoken intro? hard to make out on the clip
December 21, 2011 09:25AM | Re: Eugene Sue
This was according to the auction "a spoken intro that indicates that I'd been watching the Cubs play the Reds into extra innings."

I've got big plans.Talking BlanketYay, Butts! LOL!

He also says something about Pedroia.
December 21, 2011 11:23PM | Re: Eugene Sue
No he doesn't. Pedroia was in High School when this was recorded.

So happy for this to see the light of day, thanks so much. Maybe this is just cause i listened to Never Quite Free like 3 times earlier today and was thinking of the fairly polarized discussion on this board over that song, but the imagery in this song reminds me a lot of Never Quite Free.
"When the ship finds land/And they throw me onto the sand"
and "and ideas fly through my mind"
seem to mirror/be mirrored by
"and the waves that tossed the raft all night/have set you on dry land"
and
"let all go quiet in your head".
Which is interesting because, while it seems to me that they deal with similar themes, they certainly present differing outlooks.

A reiteration of my question, or a questioning of my post? I know we can rip it from YouTube, but i thought i would ask!

Better yet, Roberta, let us pay for a FLAC! I'll gladly give a few dollars to your burgeoning small business, or to a charity!

do I have to hit you over the head with it?
