it was the pretty please that got me. Yes, I'm the one with more money than sense and the tape is mine. Checked that the payment through and it should be winging it's way to me. I'll be putting it out in the universe for all to hear, but I may organize a private listening party first in Seattle . . . .

Congrats, Brautigan, and good on ya for putting up the money for a good cause.

Now if I may continue the thread of ridiculous things to do with the tape, I suggest releasing it in 5 or 10 second increments, once a week (or month!) to really get every salivating/taunt everyone. I think it'll really make the collectors happy, becuase then they'll have to work/wait for it. No one likes to just get everything all at once.

(It's a good thing I didn't decide to try to win this, because apparently I'm an asshole.)

I'm not sure if I'm digging "goatheads." I'm not even digging "the goat herd" which I suggested (though I doubt I am the first to think of it). If tMG fandom is to have a name, let's make it long so that it will seldom be used. Something like "the international league of fans and aficionados of The Mountain Goats, The Orange Trees, The Extra Glenns, The Extra Lens and any other musical projects of the past or future which Mountain Goats frontman, John Darnielle, might find himself intimately involved," or "ilofaaotmgtottegtelaaompotpofwmgfjdmfhii" for short.

Hmm, the pun is cute and while perhaps silly enough to prevent the name from being overused. On the other hand, it uses the same template as "Trekkies" and I can't abide by that.

Bouncing these names around is playing with fire because one of them might stick. Actually, it's more like playing with a sack full of ping pong balls when one of the balls is coated with a powerful adhesive specially designed to bind to human skin.
