I also covered "Up The Wolves" on my first album, but looking back I'm not entirely happy with my vocals on it.

So, I know it isn't technically Mountain Goats, but close enough. Extra Glenns/lens covers count.

I just made a chiptune/8-bit/video game music version of my Going To Bridlington cover.

Going To Bridlington

I am now imagining that Bridlington is a town in Pokemon.

Woah... The instrumentals are absolutely fantastic! The sound quality of the vocals is a bit meh, but overall totally awesome. Do you have more tMG 8-bit covers!? You should make more if you don't, just sayin.

Thanks!

I did Pure Money forever ago, but that's the only other one. Back then I didn't know how to program in chords (it's really weird) so I just did root notes.

And is recording quality really an issue for Mountain Goats fans? Haha.

Well, not usually, but it just felt odd because the instrumentals sounded so clean while the vocals sounded murky. Still a great job though! I wish I could make stuff like that... instead I'm confined to shitty acoustic music and even shittier raps done over beats that other people make for me... tongue sticking out smiley

Haven't heard the raps, but I beg to differ, the acoustic guitar on Southwood Plantation Road wasn't shitty.

To get this thread back on topic someone yell a song and I'll post my version in here.

Genesis 3:23

BUMP

+1
Okay I know I'm not mr. reliable when it comes to upping covers, but tomorrroooooooooooooooooooow.

as a show of good faith I made up another genesis cover with some unintentional flange to plea to the masses.

You may ask why the fuck didn't you just record 3:23 today, and well, I was, but I had to scroll down while looking at the cheat sheet and it shouldn't be that apparent, I mean don't do covers or originals if you gotta read from a sheet of paper. Common courtesy.

I'm actually really proud of how this turned out.
I might be the only one. It was very fun to make.

Though I completely rescind that comment about looking at lyrics because I fucked up on both songs.
Still!

I liked those covers!

And I want to hear some of those raps.

Here's the only one that I'm not entirely afraid to share... Even though the audio quality on the vocals is severely lacking compared to the beat.

Also, I just realized that I've been saying "if we ever make it back to california" instead of "if we NEVER make it back to california" every time I've played "See America Right"... tongue sticking out smiley

Awesome job! You got some video editing talent there I see, and to record all of those and make it work is beyond me.

My cover of "California Song"

I did the simple three note version. At first I sung it in a really high voice, but found that the way I sung it in the final take was much better sounding (to me at least). This is the first time I've recorded something and felt proud of it.

Nice!

This isn't Mountain Goats, but John wrote the music to it and has covered it.

FRANCIS MITTERRAND 8-BIT

Plus, BroomPerson wanted some more chiptune!
