My first Mountain Goats cover, which would be a million times better if I could actually play an instrument, but seeing as I can't this is just me singing. smiling smiley [soundcloud.com]

This sounds lovely! You have a really good voice! The recording quality made some parts pretty muddled but it was definitely an awesome little cover.
If you ever want some actual backing instrumentals to sing over, hit me up-- collaboration is my middle name smiling smiley

Thank you so much! =)
If there's any specific song you'd like to collaborate on tell me, I don't really know what to sing next but I'd like to sing something. smiling smiley

Thanks, it means a lot to me that people actually liked it. smiling smiley

Edited to add that I got another opportunity to record something today (I don't get to be home alone very often, my brother's usually there and would make me too self-conscious to sing) so I sang The Monkey Song. smiling smiley Quality's not much better because it's still just me and my laptop. BroomPerson, if you would like to add instrumentals that would be really cool, I don't exactly know how collaboration is supposed to work (and it's only just occurring to me that it probably might have been better for you to play something first and for me to sing over it, hopefully it doesn't make too much of a difference), will I send it to you or just post a link to it like I did yesterday?

Oh, and I may be able to do something with the first song as well so you should send that too!

I played my first ever open mic night last night. Two tMG songs.

One and a half, given that i fucked up the lyrics to Color in Your Cheeks and then went straight into Orange Ball of Love. Terrifying experience - in my mind i was gonna introduce the songs and be all cool and shit. In reality i said:

"hi, these are some songs by the mountain goats"
*play songs*
*leave stage*

Utterly horrifying! I wanna do it again!

I have a version of Dance Music now. I think it's a kind of slowed-down, bass-picked kind of style but i'm not sure on styles really. That's why i just tag everything i record with 'Porn Groove' in the metadata. I guess you could have sex to this song, but it would be slow and you'd have to get up after 2 minutes 16 seconds to change tracks.

Maybe that would do. Who knows? Here it is: [soundcloud.com]

The covers throughout this thread are stunning! It seems an array of bloody talented people inhabit this board.

May 20, 2011 09:43PM | Re: Covers
nothing to contribute (until i've finished the next few beers) but now i need a song to cover for a vox class final. Anyone got a suggestion for me?
May 20, 2011 10:01PM | Re: Covers
Could you please please please cover "Clean Needle" by Franklin Bruno? Every time I play the song I try to emulate your voice, (not intended to be creepy), but I really think you could do a fantastic version of it.

Edit: just realized you needed a specific recommendation. I still think "Clean Needle" or maybe something off TCG like "Elijah" or "There Will Be No Divorce" would work.

I envy the texture of your static. Your static is warm. My static is sharp! Also enjoying your third snow song cover; I like your voice a lot. It sounds kinda... spreadable.

Meanwhile, I have covered Home Again Garden Grove, in silly new glasses, and with half my head missing (youtube! *shakes fist*).

Dear god, this is great. Your voice is suited perfectly for this song I think, and the guitar in it sounds gorgeous.
Just curious, what kinda guitar is that? And what sort of recording setup are you using?
