Covers

Wow, more covers! I just found this thread (and this forum actually) and loved listening to you guys sing. It's especially fun for me as English is not my first language, and so picking up on John Darnielle's singing is sometimes a bit of a chore, although a very pleasant one. But different voices, like yours, really highlight the text in another way than the album version, which I've already listened to death.

Oh and sorry, no cover to add :/

And more here, though I expect most of them are no longer available. Curse you sendspace, megaupload, rapidshare, etc.!

By the way, are you Scandinavian, forhåndsforsnævring?

Why's everyone in this thread a f***ing Mountain Goats fan?!

Inbetween checking both of those threads and filtering out dead links, it seems I have my work cut out for me!

And yes, I'm Danish. Did the name give it away? smiling smiley

So, since JD played it at BreastFest back in May, it seems like I haven't been able to get Tulsa Imperative out of my head. One possible reason for that is possibly because I would really, really, like to do a cover of it; I think the guitar part is pretty incredible. However, it seems like no matter where I look, including the tMG fansite, I come up empty handed. Does anyone more enlightened than myself have any idea where I might be able to find the tab/chords for it?
Any nudge in a relevant direction would be very appreciated.

Well, I have a new idol to add to my list of heroes. He goes by the name of Schlack.

Thanks a lot, friend.

Wow! That's what I get for giving a link? Thanks!

I've kind of questioned the tabs on that site. I haven't tried them myself, though.

I don't mean to sound like a dick, but I've seen transcriptions of Franklin Bruno lyrics so off on that site that I didn't know how accurate the chords would be.

Well, thus far, in the case of Tulsa Imperative, the chords given seem to be pretty accurate. I guess no one can win 'em all though.

I don't question it to the point where I wouldn't try/believe it.

This is a kind of sloppy cover of I've Got The Sex made about 8 months ago. I was trying to get a handle on multitracking and overdubbing. I found it again and thought I'd upload.

I've found the chords to be pretty accurate, though sometimes a little over-complicated. (A variation on E where E will do, for example.) That being said, English isn't his first language, and I don't think he's that good at it. I'll let the mis-hearing of the lyrics slide.

Oh, I wouldn't question the chords at all then.
