I know we have a lot of talented musicians here, so I thought I'd make a new thread where people could share the music they make.

Hi guys, me again!

I finally brought myself to upload some older recordings of mine on bandcamp:

Voilà, Tiny Ant Mechanisms!

I probably recorded these songs in 2004 or 2005, but I had totally forgotten about most of them. When in summer 2007 I thought, hey, I should finally record the song "One With The Dust" to see if I could get a new CD together, I dug a little bit into my old Zip Discs and found three different versions of the song I can't remember recording. And I can't even remember writing the instrumental track "Tiny Ants", so I guess most of the music are first takes.

So suddenly I had enough material for a small album without having to work for it.

Maybe that's why I like this album most of all my recordings - because I can hardly remember writing and especially recording it, it's so disconnected from me I can almost listen to it as if it wasn't my music.

Anyway, I hope you like it, and I'd be happy about some feedback, I haven't had feedback to my SingSallySing project in years and have no idea anymore whether the stuff's good or not.

Cheers, Doc

Hey guys,

on Christmas 2011 I had to fill in on guitar for the sick pianist of the great local heroes VEB Kunstblume ("People's Enterprise Artificial Flower"), and now the guys released the recording of the concert (and some other, no less great performances) on bandcamp.

It's kind of some witty, funny, sometimes silly german chanson band with piano (normally), voice and plastic bucket percussion. Even if you don't understand german, it's worth a try, for the songs are really beautiful, and if you want, I could translate some of the lyrics.

I've been a huge fan of them since I first heard them and became friends with them. The percussionist, Jochen, is now the bassist of my punk band. The singer Mitzi is a great and immensly funny performer, and the pianist Thilo has written some of the most beautiful melodies I've ever heard. I'm pretty proud they asked me as replacement.

Oh, yes, and the encore is a cover of Nick Cave's and Kylie Minogue's Where The Wild Roses Grow.

Cheers, Doc

(To show off a little: I had to learn the whole set in one day. I had learned four or five songs years before, but most of the songs were a hard day's work...)

So my brother and I have this band named Steve. We've been working on this album for years and we finally got it produced by Motown Records. We're actually already number 3 on the charts in Nepal. This album means a lot to us, and I hope its power manifests itself in your life in a transforming and meaningful way. You might want to find some tissues before you give it a listen. I have to say, the lyrics are hauntingly beautiful. From us to you, we now present: DEATH POODLE IMPROV.

No new stuff to share; just getting out of a long writer's block-ish period. Since releasing my last album in May, I have one new finished song, two half-finished songs, and a bunch of fragments lying around. I'm coming to terms with the fact that I work pretty slowly now, due mostly to perfectionism but also evolving ideas about what I want to write, which is mostly prose these days.

SWV: I know I already said this on Facebook, but I really dig the new song. Kind of getting a Nothing Painted Blue vibe, but I get the Gerbils thing. And do check the latter out, one of my favorite Elephant 6 bands.

Also, I've always been kind of ashamed to say this, but I've never gotten the Magnetic Fields either. Though Andrew in Drag is pretty perfect weird pop, it's tough to deny.

I really enjoyed this! I'm a big Gerbils and Magnetic Fields fan, and I feel like that's a good place to come from for your stuff.

Also, whichever one of you is surnamed Grube, are you related to Pete and Andy? Is your bath-salt cousin okay? I mean, Holy shit. I hope you're not, I don't know if I'm telling tales out of school.

But yeah, really good music, keep it up forever.

It's extremely funny, because I can't get into The Magnetic Fields AT ALL. I've heard the entirety of 69 Love Songs and I just wasn't feeling anything for most of the songs. I wish I coulds see where all the love for the comes from, but it just doesn't do it for me. Currently checking out The Gerbils and I'm digging it!

Also: I'm the Grube guy, and what we have here is a total coincidence.

Hey folks,

I put up an album yesterday, my 11th full-length and I think my 14th release as "Boy on South."
Anyway, I really like it, specifically "When I get my shoelaces back" is one of my favorite songs I've pushed out.

It's my third release in 4 months, so I'm going to take a break and work on my non-musical scrawlings, but I encourage you to check it out! Free to stream and download.
