Question from John for MG People Hey y'all. So listen up. For several years I've had this idea of trying to do a show someplace in the summer in a remote location where people who were (probably obviously) pretty hardcore could come out and maybe camp or something, or anyway make some kinda long trip and I'd play a solo set or two, maybe wandering into old songs and stuff, and it'd kinda be like a campfire-y sorta deal. Admittedly this idea smacks somewhat of teh hippie but what can you do. It could be fun. I might pass a hat around for charity and we could all just be doing the whole thing for the joy of music & giving 'n' all that. It'd probably be in upstate New York. So what I wanna know is: do people think they'd be willing/able to make a trek for this kinda thing? Or would this be something where the three MG fans in the town would be all "fuck yes!" and the whole scene would otherwise be a wash? Obviously I'd be aiming for something kinda low-key, but it'd be the most fun if as many hardcore-lifer-types were able to come...I dunno. be difficult to get from san diego or la to new york city for free, tis about a 3 day drive hauling ass. I'm flying from california also and the plane ticket will be rigth around 300-400 USD.

And, my god, just two weeks before I'm getting married, this will be my sort of last wild trip before getting caught up in baby stuff and serious life. I don't think my wife'd let me travel that far for just a concert had we actually been married already (kidding), so it comes exactly at the right time.

so im frantically looking for a way to make this work, which involves a lot of flight finagling and extended layovers. can anyone help me with the following:

1. cheap flight from NYC to basically anywhere in Scandanavia (preferably Copenhagen) roundtrip on the 18th of june. airline suggestions?!?!?!?

2. someway to get to NYC from SD or LA for free/ very cheap ( i believe its illegal in most states to hitchhike in the USA?) sometime after the 11th?!

Upstate New York is pretty big, I think it would depend on exactly where this is going to be. I hope at least a general area is announced soon so I can get tickets.
