Awesome job! I lined it up side-by-side with this video from the actual event and it is synched up within less than a second (at least for the first part, that is). Frame rate is identical as far as my eye can tell.

OH MY GOSH you've gotta be right. I didn't even consider frame rate but it totally makes sense with silent films. I know there is quite a bit of disagreement about frame rates in silent films, and how they should be presented to modern audiences.

I still haven't given up on seeing a properly-synched version of this. anyways, i still thing the song is better synched to the final scene, but that's just imo. here is the song synched up with the actual scene used at the showing, at least the dvd version of it, which i think i could of short portions taken out, that we saw on the screen. hope you enjoy...thanks again to the recorder of the audio, thanks to elliowithnots for providing what seems to be the right synch point, and to the MGs, and to the Castro Theatre, and to the SFFS.
