August 2005 Archives

August 31, 2005 Australian Update

I haven't gotten my hands around the exact locations of the shows, but I can tell you this much: we are playing New Zealand twice next week. Wellington on Thursday the 8th of September, then Auckland on Friday the 9th. Confidential to Alastair, with whom I have lost touch: if you happen to be anywhere in the vicinity and you feel so inclined, bring your violin.

Second bit of news is that the show on the 11th in Melbourne has sold out: cheers, Melbourne! Tickets for the 13th were still available at press time.

August 25, 2005 I Can't Play the Show Tonight

I can't play the show in Durham tonight because I have gotten sick. It started at around two in the afternoon yesterday, and I hit the cold with everything I had because I am not a guy who cancels shows: water, vitamins, whaddaya got, I went for it. By this morning, though, it was clear to me that I was in bad shape. Singing while sick puts a person at very high risk for vocal injury & I have two tours left to complete this year. So I had to weigh that against this one show, which I've been looking forward to for months.

I am so sorry! I hope everyone will go enjoy the Prayers & Tears of Arthur Digby Sellers, who I trust will bring extra value-added rock to the table in my absence! Finally, Durham: you are my home and I will make this up to you, and that's a promise!

August 20, 2005 Video Update

As of this evening, for me anyhow, this link takes you first to an ad (mine was for some movie about motocross) and then directly to the video for "This Year" playing at 300 kbps. Always wanted to see me and Peter kidnapped by teenagers and forced to perform under threat of severe physical duress? Always wonder how I'd look with a wound in my temple? Want to see our drummer Alex tied up?

Well, then! Enjoy!

August 19, 2005 This Year Video

Well - on the one hand, I myself could not get the link to work, no matter how many different browsers I tried using (Firefox, Safari, the dreaded IE) and no matter how many workarounds I thought up (copy direct link and paste under "Open location," etc). On the other hand, Lycos seems to be saying they'll let you watch the video for "This Year": check the right-hand side of the page, under "New Music Videos." So, who knows - maybe you'll have better luck than I did - if so, enjoy!

August 12, 2005 Deck Wrecker

I am doing a DJ set with my Brooklyn sensei Aesop Rock tonight at Sonotheque in Chicago. I spin mainly hip-hop when I DJ, or, to be accurate, the one other time I DJ'd I learned that THE PEOPLE MUST HEAR HIP-HOP and so that's what I spin. I assume that Aesop spins mainly traditional music of Papua New Guinea, but A-S-S-U-M-E & all that. Anyhow, come on out and throw your hands up in the air if you're in the neighborhood.
